Hot Holiday Toys Spur Entrepreneurial Spirit - October 23, 2002
Beyblades sellers on eBay.ca counting on immensely popular toys to be a hit online

Toronto, ON - Canadian parents worried that their children will be disappointed this season if they don't get their Beyblades - widely predicted to be this season's "hot" holiday item - have another option, trying their luck on eBay.ca. With more than 1,000 current listings for a wide variety of Beyblades and accessories available on eBay.ca, eBay Canada is an easy and fun option for parents who want to fulfill their child's holiday wish list.

"eBay.ca truly offers a great alternative for parents who want to find great holiday gifts this season, and our savvy eBay sellers know this," says Andrew Sloss, toy category manager, eBay Canada. "They've already started listing and selling every possible Beyblade item and accessory for sale on eBay.ca and we expect that it will increase through the holiday season, especially as it gets closer and parents start to focus on the holidays."

"In addition to Beyblades, there are almost 10,000 Yu-Gi-Oh items and accessories available on eBay.ca," adds Sloss. "We know these will also be very popular items for buyers and sellers this holiday season."

Many of these and other hot holiday items listed can be purchased through auction, but many also are identified as "Buy It Now" items. "eBay.ca offers a "Buy It Now" feature which allows buyers to purchase an item at a fixed price, without having to wait for the auction to end, making Beyblade or Yu-Gi-Oh shopping a sure thing. Parents can try their luck and auction skills or they can use the Buy It Now feature," says Sloss. Buy It Now items are clearly marked with a "Buy it Now" flag alongside the item listing.

In addition, says Sloss, shopping on eBay.ca is a place where family members of all ages can have fun, buying and selling just about anything on earth. "People love the thrill of the hunt on eBay and there's a great sense of accomplishment when they win an auction, which will be especially true for hard-to-find holiday items. And, it saves shoppers from the malls during a very busy time of year."

eBay.ca Provides a Breadth of Easy-to-Use Real Estate Offerings for Both the Property Seller and Buyer - October 22, 2002
eBay.ca launches Real Estate category with more than 15,000 listings and a $9.95 million home that tops the price list

Toronto, ON - Canadians looking to buy or sell a new home or commercial property now have a unique advertising, searching and purchasing tool on eBay.ca. Based on high demand and feedback from the eBay community, eBay.ca is launching a new Real Estate category, www.ebay.ca/realestate

eBay.ca has teamed with Harvey Kalles, a trusted Canadian realtor, to offer eBay users a complete range of real estate offerings. Currently, over 15,000 real estate listings are available to view on eBay.ca. Of these, 13,300 are residential listings for homes located both in Canada and around the world.

For those looking to advertise a property, eBay.ca now offers the Real Estate Advertising option, where one can advertise a property for 30 or 90 days for only $75.00 or $150.00 respectively. The advertised property will be exposed to eBay's large registered user base of more than 1.4 million Canadians and 54.9 million registered users worldwide. In addition to viewing homes listed under the traditional eBay selling format, home and property buyers can now also browse through properties, with the option of contacting the seller and/or listing agent directly if interested in a particular property.

"The launch of the real estate category is an exciting initiative for eBay.ca," says Jordan Banks, director of business and strategic development, eBay Canada. "By empowering the eBay.ca user to choose from a new range of real estate offerings, including the traditional auction, fixed price and no purchase advertising formats, we are providing a much sought-after service to both the potential buyer and the individual or company listing the property."

"We are very pleased to work with eBay.ca on this new initiative that will benefit both the realtor and the Canadian property buyer," said Michael Kalles, M.B.A., president, Harvey Kalles Real Estate Limited Realtor. "By listing our properties on eBay.ca, we are providing our sales representatives with an additional sales channel that allows a new audience of potential buyers to contact our representatives quickly and easily." Harvey Kalles Real Estate listings can be viewed at www.ebay.ca/kallescollection.

Features of the eBay.ca real estate category
Real Estate Ad Listings

For those looking to advertise a property, eBay.ca offers the Real Estate Advertising option, where one can advertise a property for 30 or 90 days for only $75.00 or $150.00 respectively. The advertised property will be exposed to eBay's large registered user base of more than 1.4 million Canadians and 54.9 million registered users worldwide. At the seller's or listing agent's option, details of the ad can include information on price, property taxes, lot size, style, and all measurements and specifications, and can also include a variety of pictures, which show both the outside, and inside of the property. A direct link to the seller's or listing agent's website can also be included.

The advertisement is a detailed listing that allows the seller and/or their listing agent to receive leads from multiple interested buyers, rather than from a single high bidder. The seller and/or their listing agent may then contact potentially interested parties to discuss the listing further. eBay policy prohibits the seller and/or their listing agent from disclosing users' email addresses to third parties

The Real Estate Advertising option is an excellent complimentary marketing channel for sellers and/or their agents to pique the interest of potential buyers that may not have been reached by other sales channels. In addition, it is an economical and efficient channel to reach potential buyers for both the seller and/or the listing agent.

Auction format

Whether you are looking for commercial, residential, land, or timeshare properties, there are thousands of individuals and companies listing properties for auction on eBay. Items such as hunting and fishing lodges, hair salons, four-bedroom homes, and villas in Arizona are now just a click away, available to the highest bidder. Most listings come with interior and exterior pictures, showcasing the different elements of the property, as well as detailed information about the size, condition and features of the home.

Buy it Now

eBay also offers a "Buy it Now" option at the seller's and/or listing agent's discretion. If property seekers are enamored with a property, and want to purchase it immediately, "Buy it Now" allows for a quick and easy online purchase, allowing users to bypass the auction process to buy the property at a fixed and fair price.
