HOW WHY About the Fashion Design Council of Canada
Toronto, ON - For the first time ever, a charity auction for a luxury condominium suite in Toronto is set to begin on eBay Canada (www.ebay.ca) March 22. The online auction is hosted by the Yee Hong Community Wellness Foundation, a charity benefiting the Yee Hong Centre for Geriatric Care. The condominium is part of the newly planned project One City Hall in the heart of downtown Toronto. Lavishly custom designed, this 597 square foot model is valued at $225,900 (including parking) - and generously provided for the online auction by Diamante Development Corporation. "When we have the opportunity to auction off a condominium suite to raise funds, we want to launch it in the most innovative and spectacular way. With eBay reaching over 61 million people worldwide in 27 countries, it only makes sense that we work with the world's premier online shopping destination," says Dr. Joseph Wong, Chair of Yee Hong. The online auction on eBay.ca will begin on March 22 at 2:30 a.m (ET) and run in conjunction with the live television broadcast of the 2003 Yee Hong-TVB-Fairchild All-Star Charity Show and Telethon. This program will showcase some of the most illustrious musical talents to come out of Hong Kong. As well, viewers will hear from seniors whose lives have been touched by the Yee Hong award-winning and heart-warming brand of care. The national telecast will begin at 8:30 pm on Sunday, March 30 on Fairchild Television. "eBay Canada is committed to its community, and to those who work to benefit others through charitable events," said Alexandra Brown, spokesperson, eBay Canada. "The ones truly gaining from this venture are the seniors of the community, and we are proud to host this innovative and exciting auction on eBay.ca." Yee Hong is committed to provide a continuum of culturally and linguistically appropriate care for all seniors, allowing them to live their lives to the fullest. Funds raised will go towards the Yee Hong Capital Campaign to build three new dynamic geriatric care centres across the GTA in Markham, Mississauga and Scarborough, to serve seniors from the Chinese community, and those from the multi-cultural communities, reflecting the needs of Canadian seniors as a whole. In fact, Markham Yee Hong Centre, the first of the three new Centres, has been completed since last October, and is fully operational. The other two new Centres are slated for completion within the next two years. Yee Hong is expanding its services by reaching out to all seniors in the GTA and spreading its model of care around the world. eBay is The World's Online Marketplace(TM).
