I'm not a registered Canadian charity but I want to sell items and donate the proceeds to a charity. What rules must I follow and am I eligible for a fee credit?
At this time, only registered Canadian charities are eligible for the eBay Canada Charity Fee Credit Policy. However, others wishing to sell items and donate the proceeds to charity may do so provided they secure written consent from the benefiting charity and include a scanned copy of the consent in their listing. eBay will not be responsible for any such proceeds collected with or without the consent of the charity, and not delivered to the charity.
How do I get my auction promoted on the Charity Fundraising page?
Promotional exposure on the www.ebay.ca Charity Fundraising page is a valuable yet limited resource. To request placement, visit the Charity Registration and Promotional form.
Can I have my personal items listed next to the charity items on my About Me page?
Yes. However, we suggest that you clearly define the items that are for fundraising purposes, so there is no confusion for potential bidders. One way to do this is by making sure that the word "Charity" is in the title and item description of each item you sell for fundraising purposes.
Do regular selling rules apply to charity listings?
Regular selling rules apply to all eBay sellers. Rules include having a credit card and bank information on file prior to listing, adhering to the User Agreement, and complying with Rules and Policies posted in the Help Centre.
Are there fees associated with listing items for charity?
All items on eBay are subject to the same standard selling fees. There are no additional fees for charity listings.
Do charity listings appear within regular listings?
Yes. All items listed on eBay are viewable from Title and Description search, Category listing(s), Item Number, and Seller Search. We suggest that your items also appear on your About Me page, so that if a buyer looks at your About Me page to find more information about your organization, your items are easily accessible to look at and bid on.
Is there a specific category for charity items?
There is no specific category for items listed for fundraising purposes. However, we suggest that you place the word "Charity" in your title and description so that potential buyers are able to find your items easier.
What items are prohibited on the site?
Please review the list of Prohibited and Restricted Items in the Help Centre.
