How to register

When you register as an eBay member you can bid on and purchase items from all over the world. During the registration process, we’ll ask for your contact information and email address. However, we won't share your personal information without your consent. Learn more about how we protect your personal information.

Registration steps

To register, go to the registration page, and follow these steps:

1. Enter your contact and personal information.
Your contact information includes your name, address, and phone number. Personal information includes your date of birth to verify that you are at least 18 years of age.
2. Enter your email address.
You need to enter a working email address that you can check immediately, because we’ll send you an email with instructions to complete your registration. We’ll also use this email address to notify you when you've won an item, and to share shipping and payment information with other buyers and sellers.
3. Choose a user ID, password, and secret question.
You’ll use your user ID and password every time you sign in to any eBay site or Half.com. Learn more about choosing a user ID and get tips on creating a secure password. Your secret question helps us identify you in case you forget your password and ask us to help you reset it.
4. Read and accept our User Agreement and Privacy Policy.
You must accept the agreement to continue registering. Learn more about our User Agreement and Privacy Policy.
5. Confirm your identity
You might be asked to confirm your identity via phone and credit card. Learn more about providing identification for registration.
6. Check your email.
You’ll receive a registration email from us. Follow the instructions in the email to confirm your registration and complete the registration process.

Registering two accounts

You can register two different accounts. Some members find that having two accounts is a convenient way to organize a large number of items, or to sell different kinds of items. However, keep in mind that:

  • Both accounts must have different user IDs and different email addresses.

  • The two accounts can never be used in the same listing.
