Signing in to your account

How to sign in

After you register with eBay, you can sign in with either your user ID or the email address associated with your account, and your password.

To sign in:
  1. Go to the sign in page.

Important: Be sure the web address of the sign in page starts with https://signin.ebay.ca.

  2. Enter your user ID or email address, and password.

  3. If you're on a public or shared computer, we recommend you clear the Stay signed in check box.

  4. Click the Sign in button.

When you'll need to sign in

To protect your identity and privacy, we'll ask you to sign in periodically. For example, we'll ask you to sign in when you:

  • Request a change to your user information such as email address, user ID, payment methods, or credit card information.

  • Have a buyer account and want to add a seller account.

  • Start the selling process in a different browser session, even if you've selected the Stay signed in option. However, if you use the same browser session to sign in and to list an item, you won't be asked to sign in again unless you've closed your browser at any time after you signed in.

  • Clear cookies from your browser, or if your cookies become corrupted.

  • Post to the Community Discussion Boards, and Answer Centre.

As an additional security check, we may occasionally ask you to enter a verification code when you sign in.

If you forget your user ID or password

If you forget your user ID, you can log in with your registered email address, or we'll send an email with your user ID.

If you forget your password, you can create a new one. Your old password will remain active until you create a new one.
