Using a tax table

Important: You are responsible for complying with all applicable tax laws. Please contact a tax professional to determine whether you need to charge sales tax on your eBay sales or if you have questions about any other taxes. eBay can't provide tax advice. Also, we can't guarantee that our sales tax features will meet all tax requirements.

You can use the eBay tax table to specify a sales tax rate for each province in which you're required to charge sales tax. You can also choose to charge tax on shipping and handling if that is required by law.

When a buyer views your items, your tax rates will be shown on the item page. When your buyer goes through eBay checkout after purchasing one of your items, the system automatically calculates the correct sales tax amount based on the buyer's shipping address and the rates that you specified in your tax table. The sales tax amount will be included in the total amount requested from the buyer.

Note: Changes that you make in your tax table don't affect your live listings. Only items that you list, relist, or revise after saving your changes will be affected.
