eBay for Charity: Information for nonprofit organizations
About eBay for Charity
The eBay for Charity program helps:
eBay for Charity is administered by PayPal Giving Fund, our nonprofit partner.
Because charitable fundraising is a highly regulated area subject to numerous state and federal laws, we have specific guidelines for allowing charitable solicitations. Learn more about our charity and fundraising policy.
eBay for Charity listings are identified with the charity ribbon icon . Your nonprofit organization is also described in the listing. Research has shown that charitable listings on average sell with more bids and at slightly higher final prices.
How it works:
Sellers pay standard insertion and final value fees for eBay for Charity listings. If an eBay for Charity item sells, eBay for Charity credits these fees back to the seller. For Community Selling, the credit is prorated according to the percentage the seller committed to donate. For nonprofit Direct Selling, the nonprofit receives 100% credit for these fees. For more information, see types of nonprofit selling.
Example: A charity lists a cashmere sweater to raise funds for itself, and sells it for $100.00. Because the charity is doing its own selling (Direct Selling), eBay for Charity delivers a 100% fee credit to the charity, resulting in 100% of the final sale price going to the charity.
*Actual fees may vary. Does not include fees for any upgrades.

Types of nonprofit selling
When a nonprofit organization is certified to be included in the eBay for Charity directory, the organization can fundraise with eBay for Charity.
Any eBay seller can sell an item on eBay and donate from 10% to 100% of its final sale price to support a charity. eBay for Charity credits the insertion and final value fees back to the seller, equal to the percentage of the final sale price that the seller chooses to donate. Learn more about eBay for Charity fee credits.
The minimum donation if the item sells is $1.00. For eBay Motors Vehicles, the minimum donation is 1%.
You can receive an email notification from PayPal Giving Fund when new listings are created that benefit your organization. Find this setting in your nonprofit's PayPal Giving Fund account.
If the item sells, PayPal Giving Fund will collect the donation, issue a tax receipt to the seller, and send the donation amount to your charity.
Your nonprofit can list its own items on eBay and collect 100% of the final sale price. As a Direct Seller, your nonprofit also receives a 100% fee credit from eBay for Charity.
A nonprofit Direct Seller collects payment from the buyer, and is responsible for providing a tax receipt, if applicable.
The nonprofit must add an eBay username to its PayPal Giving Fund account in order to create listings as a Direct Seller. A staff member or supporter of the nonprofit can use their own username to do this. All sales associated with this username are considered Direct Selling for the charity.
