Seller fees & invoices

You pay an insertion fee to list an item on eBay. If the item sells, you also pay a final value fee. The cost of selling an item is the total of these two fees. Learn how the fees are calculated.

Solve a problem

Verify that your credit card number was entered correctly, and that your name matches the name on your credit card account. If that doesn’t work, contact the card issuer.

I received an email about updating my credit card.

We may send you email reminders to update your card before it expires. Make sure the email is actually from eBay and not fraudulent.

My account is on hold or suspended due to non-payment.

Reinstate your account by paying the balance in full. Find out how to reinstate your account.

Your account activity page lists each of your fees, along with a description of what they’re for. If you still don’t understand a charge, you can contact us.

I’m being asked to provide a credit card before listing an item to sell.

We need a valid credit card on file for your account, even if you’ve used other payment methods in the past. We’ll only charge your credit card if you list an item, and if you specify that card as your preferred payment method.

I requested an insertion fee credit but didn\'t receive it.

The listing you're requesting a credit for may have been a $0.00 insertion fee auction-style listing. Because there was no insertion fee, you won't receive an insertion fee credit for these listings.

I requested a final value fee credit but didn\'t receive it.

First, double-check your account activity page. If you haven’t received credit, check the reason that you closed your unpaid item case against our final value fee credits list, since not all reasons result in credit.

I have a credit balance and would like a refund.

For credit card and checking account payments, make sure that the account currently on file for automatic payments is the same one you last used to pay the account. When you have confirmed your registration information, go ahead and request a refund.

I don\'t want to bill the card that’s associated with my account.

An invoice schedules an automatic payment from the payment method on file at the time of invoicing. The only way to stop the automatic payment is to submit an immediate one-time payment in full for the invoice five days or more in advance of the payment, otherwise the automatic payment happens as scheduled.

You might have made a one-time payment around the time we automatically invoice your account. To cash out your credit balance, request a refund.
