     Rules & Policies
You've come to the right place if you want to learn more about the "rules of the road" at eBay. These rules and policies are eBay Community standards that will show you the way to a consistent and safe trading experience.
Your eBay User Agreement - The User Agreement spells out your relationship with eBay, and the terms and conditions under which eBay offers you access to our services.

    Rules
To promote a safe trading environment for all members, eBay has rules and policies that are enforced.

    eBay's policies are intended to:

    • Support government laws and regulations
    • Minimize risks to both buyers and sellers
    • Provide equal opportunity to all buyers and sellers
    • Protect intellectual property rights
    • Provide an enjoyable buying experience
    • Support the values of the eBay Community

When policy violations occur, eBay emails the seller, as well as bidders, that a listing has been ended. Learning about eBay's selling policies before you list an item will help you to avoid unintentionally breaking rules (including the law).

Reporting violations - You can report what you believe to be a violation by using the report link from a specific policy page, by using the Contact Us link on the left side of any Help page, or from the View Item page. To learn about the type of offenses that eBay investigates, see Reporting Inappropriate Trading Behavior.

Rules about Feedback - your eBay reputation
eBay members can leave feedback about their buyers or sellers by commenting on a transaction. Since your feedback is a key indicator of your reputation, eBay has created policies to guard against Feedback manipulation and Feedback abuse.

    Rules for everyone
eBay wants to ensure that everyone who participates in the eBay Community has a safe and enjoyable experience. These rules apply to buyers, sellers, participants on the Community boards and even eBay employees. Learn more about issues like the use of profanity, unsolicited email (spam), and how to participate on our boards.

    Rules for buying
Buyer rules assist buyers in doing the right thing in a transaction. Learning about these rules will make your eBay experience a safe and enjoyable one.

    Rules for selling
If you are listing an item for sale, it is always a good idea to check eBay's listing policies to ensure that your listing is permitted on eBay. If your item sells successfully, the sale needs to be completed. This includes contacting your buyer, accepting payment and shipping the item. Learn about what is considered seller non-performance and why bidding on your items by certain members is considered shill bidding and is prohibited.

    Protection Programs
Protecting your privacy - Our Privacy Policy tells you about how we use and protect your personal information.

Protecting your identity Learn about how eBay preserves and protects your identity. For example, eBay does not permit members to publish contact information of another eBay member in any online public area.

Protecting intellectual property - eBay's Verified Rights Owner (VeRO) program is for intellectual property owners to easily report listings that infringe on their rights. Do you wish to report a listing that may infringe on your intellectual property rights? For more details, see Verified Rights Owner (VeRO) Program.
