What’s happening to the eBay Community forums?

eBay will soon be updating the Community forums in Canada. With these updates, you’ll enjoy a better experience, an updated look and great new features.

Why is eBay making this change?

You’ll enjoy a better experience, an updated look and great new features.

What’s changing?

The following features will either be updated or altogether new:

• A new “ask a question” feature
• The ability for you to give kudos to other users’ posts
• When you ask a question, you’ll be able to see when an answer is posted, and then “Accept the Solution” if you think the answer is a good one. Every time you accept a solution, you help other members who may have the same question find their answer even faster!
• Community—only profiles and avatars will be replaced with your eBay user avatar and information
• Posts from eBay employees will no longer be pink, but will identifiable by a blue box surrounding the post

What’s staying the same?

The following features will be staying the same:

• Left navigation
• Search function
• The Discussion Board, Answer Centre & Groups structure
• eBay Announcements
• Personalized signatures

Will the forums still be free to use?

Yes, as always, it’s free to participate!

When is the change happening?

Within the next few weeks, eBay.ca will be updating the Community forums.

Will I be able to use my eBay user ID and password to log in?

Yes, you will use the same eBay user ID and password.

What will happen to my previous posts?

All of your previous posts will move to the updated forums.

Is there a report button?

Yes, if you think that a post is inappropriate, you can click on the "Report Inappropriate Content" link.

Can you edit and delete your personal posts?

Yes, you'll be able to edit and delete a post that you've made within a designated timeframe of when the post was made.

Do I have to sign up in to use the updated forums?

No. When you visit the updated Community forums the first time, your eBay user ID will log you in automatically. If you are not logged in automatically, you can sign in using your eBay user ID and password by clicking on the “Sign In” button near the upper left side of the page.

Will you be able to add your own signature to posts?

Yes, you will be able to add a personal signature.

Can you give multiple kudos for the same post?

You can only leave one kudo for each post.

Can I provide feedback on this change?

Yes, we’d love to hear your feedback. We are creating a special discussion board for users to share their feedback and suggestions for improving the Community experience.

Will the forums continue to be moderated?

Yes, eBay will continue to moderate the forums.

Will other eBay sites change to this new Community platform?

Yes, the updated platform will be introduced to most eBay sites over the coming months.
