Parts compatibility on eBay.ca
Sellers who list in the Automotive Parts & Accessories category can include parts compatibility information, sometimes referred to as fitment, with their eBay.ca listings. With parts compatibility, sellers can associate a single listing with many possible vehicles, and title their listings more strategically, focusing on the part itself and not the vehicles it's compatible with. It also helps buyers more easily identify compatible parts for their vehicle.
When sellers list with parts compatibility on eBay, we use the information to help match their listings with more buyers' searches. We show those vehicle fitment details on the view item page, and we use it in the background to power different search and browse experiences for eBay buyers.
This allows sellers to use their 80-character title for other popular search elements, such as brand or location on the vehicle to market their listing better. The fitment details on the View Item page is now available on eBay's sites globally.
Parts compatibility best practices
- Add your own list of compatible vehicles. Manually include your own list of up to 1,000 compatible models. Create one listing per product and add all compatible vehicles to that listing.
- Create up to 5 parts compatibility listings. If your part fits more than 1,000 vehicles, you can create up to 4 additional listings for your product, for a total of 5 listings. Compatible vehicles must be unique for each listing. See our Duplicate listing policy.
- Use your 80-character title wisely. Focus on search elements like brand names, part numbers, and product features. Including compatible vehicle information in your title will not increase your exposure in buyer searches.
- Choose a listing tool that supports parts compatibility. eBay tools support compatibility, as do many third-party tool providers. Check our list of Tools & plugins to get started.
Frequently asked questions
In which categories can sellers list with parts compatibility on eBay.ca?
Parts compatibility is available in most categories within Automotive > Parts & Accessories > Car & Truck Parts. See our help page for a list of the excluded categories.
Are sellers required to use parts compatibility on eBay.ca?
No, using parts compatibility is currently optional. However, listings that display compatible vehicle data will help you get your relevant items in front of buyers via search and helps to avoid using multiple listings for the same item.
Do I need to list with parts compatibility if I already include that information in my title or description?
Information you provide in your title and description is always helpful, but listing with structured fitment information allows your items to surface in more searches and reach more buyers. Instead, use your title for popular search elements such as brand, part type, manufacturer part number, equivalent OEM part number, part name, colour, size, material, location on the vehicle, and any other part numbers (e.g. Platinum number).
Here are some examples:
Old title: Ford Ranger 88/07 Short Bed New Tonneau Bed Cover 6ft.
New title: Freedon 9630 Black Tonneau Truck Bed Cover 6ft.
Old title: 1992-1994 1995 Honda Civic EG6 Headlights+Vision
New title: JDM Black Crystal Headlights w/Vision Amber Corner Lights
You can repeat compatibility information in your listing description, but it's not necessary, as this information will already be displayed in the compatibility tab, and is used in search. Compatibility information that's found only in the description may not be surfaced in search.
How does parts compatibility information I provide in my eBay.ca listings help buyers on other global sites such as eBay.com?
If you include shipping details for US buyers, fitment information you provide in your eBay.ca listing will power buyer experiences on eBay.com and other global sites such as eBay.ca.
What if I'm not sure which vehicles are compatible with my item?
If you aren't certain which vehicles are compatible with your item, you can always list on eBay.ca without fitment. You could also try listing your item using the parts compatibility catalogue on eBay.com.
