Updates to categories and item specifics to create a better buying, selling, and search experience.

Overview

Category and classification changes

Category changes, including additions, removals, and renames, will go into effect June 13, 2017, to provide a more intuitive buying, selling, and search experience on eBay.

If you have a listing in a category affected by these changes, eBay will automatically move it to the most relevant category. Select a category below to view the category and item specific changes.

List your items in "best fit" categories

Review your listings to ensure that they are located in the "best fit" categories. If they're not in the "best fit" categories, use these eBay tools to revise your items:

Item condition for French language listings

Later this summer, sellers will need to begin including the item's condition when they list on the eBay.ca French language site.

When item condition is included with a listing, it helps improve the shopping experience for buyers in both French and English. Item condition is already required for listings created on eBay.ca and eBay.com.

Product identifiers launching on the eBay.ca French site

eBay uses an item’s brand, manufacturer part number (MPN), and global trade item numbers (GTINs)—such as Universal Product Codes (UPCs) and International Standard Book Numbers (ISBNs)—to help buyers quickly find the items they’re looking for.

Requirements for product identifiers began on the English eBay.ca site in 2015. Increasing the accuracy of listing information through product identifiers and item specifics is an important part of our ongoing work to improve the marketplace experience for all users. That’s why, starting in June 2017, new listings of branded items in new condition on cafr.eBay.ca will soon be required to include them.

Watch our Announcements Board for more details as they become available.
